Product & Fit

Sizing for your guitar(s)

Open tab

Each Guitar Necktie measures:

-Overall: 1.75" W (top) x 2.75" W (bottom) x 26" L

-Securing straps: sit 3" and 13" down (measured from top of unit)

The straps are measured to accommodate most Standard acoustic and electric guitars. Using a tape measurer (or string), measure around the neck in centimeters at the 2nd Fret (11.5cm-12.25cm) and 13th Fret (14.5cm-15.1cm). If your guitar falls in the ranges above, it should fit fine.

Sizing for your guitar case(s)

In general, all acrylic and leather models are designed to fit in most standard cases for both acoustic and electric guitars.

However, our wood models are slightly thicker (in order to avoid wood-warp), so it is less likely to fit in your case as seamlessly. Still, it should fit most cases, but with this small caveat.

What materials are used?

Open tab

Depending on which finish you select, the materials will vary.

All finishes include high-density EVA foam (85 kg/m3) backs, using Barge Liquid Cement.

Acrylic 4mm thick CHEMCAST ACRYLITE® acrylic plastic.

Leather hand-selected 7-9oz vegetable tanned cowhide. Both the necktie and straps are cut from the same hide for consistency of character. They are hand cut, dyed, and finished using Angelus dyes.

Wood hand-selected wood that is hand-assembled, sanded, and finished using a true nitrocellulose lacquer (vs. modern 'lacquer' finishes) to bring out the beauty of the wood and for a durable coating for years of use. Offered in Walnut, Canarywood, with more options to come soon.

Cleaning and care

Open tab

Depending on which finish you select, the care will vary.

Acrylic Clean using gentle cloth (microfiber recommended) dabbed with a small amount of warm water. We recommend using a cleaning formula like Brillianize Acrylic/Glass cleaner, however it is most important to use a solution that contains no alcohol or ammonia (e.g. most glass/window cleaners).

Leather Clean with a soft brush or cloth. Blot away water or moisture as soon as possible. Dry wet leather naturally, away from artificial heat. Keep supple with a specialized conditioner every 3-6 months (like Fiebing's Saddle Soap).

Ensure completely dry prior to putting back on your guitar.

Wood Clean using gentle cloth dabbed with a small amount of warm water.

How easily can I take it on/off [my guitar]?

Open tab

It takes under three seconds to put on and less than two seconds to remove. The riveted leather straps break-in and the button-stud style connection is both simple and secure. Over time the straps will form more to the shape of your particular instrument. We strongly recommend using two hands until the leather has worn in, one to stabilize your instrument, the other to press on/pull off button-stud. Use one thumb over the rivet, to ensure you maintain integrity of the strength of strap.

Do Guitar Neckties replace the need for a case?

Open tab

Short answer, no. The Guitar Necktie strings protector is designed to prolong the life of your strings while reducing the amount of dust and dirt that is collected while keeping your guitar out of the case. It is not intended, nor is it claimed, that our products are designed to provide the same level of protection as a full guitar case.
